Why is the US’s Office of Personnel Management so keen on its own private military contractors?
It’s not just that the US government is now a company.
The US Office of Professional Responsibility, a US government agency that oversees the US military, has recently made clear that it wants to hire its own special operations forces.
According to the Guardian, OPR also wants to employ “more contractors than its predecessors”.
OPR has been pushing for more military personnel for some time, but the new push has been driven by the new administration, which has proposed increased funding for the military, as well as increasing the Pentagon’s budget.
As a result, the US has more troops than it’s ever had, but not a lot of them.
OPR is pushing for additional troops to train special operations personnel and to help train US military and police personnel.
It also wants contractors to provide logistics support for US military operations.
The company, which is owned by the Carlyle Group, is now hiring about 3,000 US troops.
US Special Operations Command In January 2017, the Pentagon asked a group of private companies for their advice on how to use its personnel and equipment.
The Pentagon said it wanted to use private contractors to train US special operations troops.
The Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) has asked for an evaluation of the potential use of private contractors for this purpose.
The request was first made in January 2018 and was sent to companies in the military’s Special Operations and Reconnaissance business, including the Carlyles Group.
At the time, it said the OSP was “deeply concerned by the potential for the US Special Ops command to use contractors to assist with their operations.”
The Pentagon is currently trying to get a handle on whether private contractors are being used by the Pentagon.
The Carlyle group’s chief executive, John Delaney, said he wasn’t aware of the company’s decision to use the USOC to train its own forces.
“I can’t speak to that, but I would be surprised if we did,” he told Business Insider in January.
OSP also said it had contacted the Pentagon and other federal agencies about using private contractors.
It’s also seeking to hire contractors to support its operations.
Delaney said that OSP is looking to hire more contractors than it has ever had.
“The fact that the OPM is in a position to take this position, I think, speaks volumes about how the Pentagon is thinking about the future of our military,” he said.
A spokesperson for OSP told Business News Daily that the government’s goal is to “ensure that the Special Operations forces that the DOD currently uses are capable of delivering missions, and that the Pentagon has the resources and personnel to accomplish that mission.”
It added that the department had no plans to hire private contractors, but would “continue to evaluate the benefits and challenges of contracting out.”
A spokesperson from the Pentagon said that it has not asked the Carlyl Group for any comment.
“OSP has not made any decisions regarding its relationship with the Department of Defense on this issue,” said a spokesperson.
However, Delaney told Business Insider that the Carlyling Group is “very supportive” of the government-wide request for more private contractors in the US armed forces.
He added that OPR was looking to use some of its own military contractors to help with its training.
“That would be a fantastic thing,” he says.
“We’re very excited about it, but we don’t want to do it ourselves.”
US military training in the desert The Carlyles group’s new proposal comes as US military personnel are already struggling to keep up with the challenges of desert training.
The Department of the Army recently released a report saying that US military service members had been in a state of readiness for nearly seven months, but had only been able to perform four tasks.
That means more than 2,400 soldiers have been in desert combat since November 2017.
According the report, there have been 5,300 combat deaths.
While the report doesn’t say what the Pentagon plans to do about the problem, it did state that the country’s training needs are “under sustained scrutiny.”
The US military has struggled to keep pace with the pace of change in the battlefields.
The Army has been struggling to maintain its soldiers on the ground since the beginning of the Trump administration.
The first wave of US troops to leave Iraq in 2017 was made up of soldiers from the Army and the Marine Corps.
Those soldiers have struggled to stay with the US troops on the other side of the war.
